I found this doll while browsing on Etsy. She is the creation of Mimi Kirchner. And the creations of Mimi are endless! Her dolls have such interesting personalities! One of my favorite things about Mimi is that she uses materials on hand (many of the fabrics are from her mom's collection of clothing). This makes me think of a quilt I have. My mother-in-law can point to each piece of fabric and tell me which article of clothing it came from. I love art that is steeped in history and memory.
I picked a post from three of her blog categories to learn a few things about this creative woman...
Applique: The most beautiful applique work. This post tells of water baby decorated with big orange fish and bubble trails. Gorgeous colors.Inspiration: Mimi has a friend, Salley Mavor, who makes the most lovely children book illustrations. Endearing. Delightful.
Knitting: And she knits too, of course! I love a knitted blanket and wish I had the patience for one but alas, all I will ever complete is a dish cloth.
It's fun to "peek" into a fellow Creative's crafting place. Gleaning from her inspiration, seeing how another person lives, and sharing in the process of creating (even if across the country).
In this video, Mimi defines her goal as creating "Something that elicits an emotional response." She is doing that well. Thank you for sharing your love with us.
