Crafting with Kaia: Collages

It hit me the other day that I'm not spending much time creating with the girls. Ouch. Luckily, that can be changed.

So, to start things off I pulled out a few items from my crafty supply.  Old books, valentines day cards, markers, stickers, crayons and glue.  It was time to teach Kaia how to make a collage.

I remember how much time I spent in junior high assembling these things.  I have no idea why, but Jenny Fredrickson and I, spent most of 7th grade making these things.
My favorite thing about collages is that the only supplies you need are the things around you.

Kaia didn't need much prompting.  She got the hang of it pretty quick.

Her first collage features our favorite neighbors (besides Auntie and Aaron of course), Jimmy and Corey.  Jimmy writes and illustrates books, one of which we are reading right now, It's Winter.  Corey owns one of our favorite restaurants in town, Yummy Wine Bar & Bistro.  Kaia was smitten with these two from the second we introduced them.

**In case you can't tell, that's Corey on the left and Jimmy on the right**

And I was transported right back to 7th grade when I was dreaming about Phillip Countryman and wishing I wasn't so short and wondering why my parents didn't understand me and hating the nickname "Betsy-Wetsy"...  Oooo, maybe I shouldn't bring back the collages!
