A Letter to the New Girl...

Dear friend,

Read your facebook post this morning and you are right: it is hard to be the new person.  Takes a ton of work.  And when you already have so much emotional energy being spent, life as the new girl, is that much harder.

But here is some hope - hope I give wrapped in as much humility as I can muster.  Given to you as a fellow seeker in all things true.

You are strong.  You have weathered so much already and yet you stand so tall.  Continue to hold that head up and those shoulders back.

You are beautiful.  That smile can make anyone think about you long after you have left the room.

But also, the person that you are...  Be it.  I found a word the other day - quiddity.  It is a term for the essence of an object.  Literally our "whatness" or what makes me, me.  Your whatness - it's striking.  Continue to be your true self, live as honestly as you have, and for each breath you take, let it be one that is fully reliant on Him.

What I carry away from your post, thinking and praying for you, is the very truth that another person gifted you to "keep telling your friends."  I love this encouragement of asking people to walk with you.  Keep on asking.

As you ask and tell, the host of women that gather next to you, if only in Spirit, grows and multiplies and teaches.  And I join you, among many already, in holding your hand and lifting your head and watching you flourish.

Carry on, new girl.
